No Position Purpose: To manage and administer all Department of Safety and Security's technology systems (from operational software programs, software and computer inventory, and updates, to vendor liaison and computer systems and programs training); be the Department liaison to the College's ITC Department, and provide operational technology support
for Department staff. The Security Technology Specialist has a wide scope of technical knowledge and is able to work flexibly across the various Department systems and staff varying technology support needs.
Description: Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp: Associates plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Associate's Degree in computer sciences, information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant knowledge of safety and security or law enforcement operations. 2 years or more of experience in a technical support role. Extensive knowledge
of computer hardware and software, including (but not limited to) PCs, laptops, Windows Operating Systems, and Office 365, as well as awareness of other business applications.
Experience working with Banner or other student data records systems. Ability to research, learn and adapt to changing support demands of security operations programs. Able to trouble shoot and solve PC, laptops, mobile devices, phones, and software issues. Practical knowledge in maintaining documentation for Department technology needs in order to recommends new technologies, policies, procedures and best practices. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with a wide range of constituents.
Knowledge of regulations and policies related to safety and security and higher education (i. e. Clery, FERPA , etc. ) Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community. Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, information technology or related field and experience working in a technology support position. 4 years or more of experience in a technical support role. Working knowledge and expertise with a variety of software, hardware, and applications. Experience managing physical and virtual servers and data storage infrastructure for an organization; and (3) Diagnosing and resolving IT system problems.
Experience with VPNs, cyber and data security including secure database protection. Analytical skills to study problems and records and identify solutions. Percentage Of Time: 20 Description: Manage all systems credentialing and account set ups for new employees. Serve as liaison to the College's IT Department and represent the Department at Dartmouth's Information Security Council. Percentage Of Time: 15 Description: In collaboration with the Communications Supervisor and the Training Coordinator, develop and implement procedures for the training of Communications Officers and maintenance of communications systems and equipment. Oversee the training of employees in all Department systems such as Informant, Lenel, Live Safe, Rave, When-To-Work, etc.
Percentage Of Time: 15 Description: Responds to emergencies and provides technology support to Department personnel and assist in setting up the Emergency Operations Center ( EOC ). Work with the Emergency Manager in technology matters and systems related to emergency management. Percentage Of Time: 15 Description: Assist Department Investigators and Supervisors conducting investigations with technology related investigative aspects and systems access, and compile and produce data reports for Department provided services and uses, to analyse safety and security programs effectives and to comply with crime statistics reporting regulations.
Percentage Of Time: 15 Description: Serves as back up to Office Manager for maintenance, updates and modifications to Department's website design and content. Percentage Of Time: 5 Description: Provide operational technology support in desktop and mobile operating systems, applications, security operations programs and peripherals for Department staff.
