Yes Position Purpose: To collaboratively support NH’s community cancer concern efforts through scientific analysis of statistical public health data backssing cancer burden in the State. The Community Cancer Epidemiologist will work under the NH DHHS Chief of Bureau of Public Health Statistics and Informatics and NH State Cancer Registry Director (at Dartmouth). Cancer data
analyses will be used to support decision making about cancer issues by program staff, policymakers, partners, stakeholders and the general public through data briefs, burden reports, cluster investigation reports, presentations, data dashboards, etc.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp: Masters plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: · Experience conducting cancer data analysis for public health and health outcomes initiatives. · Experience interpreting cancer data and communicating results in multiple formats (e. g. written reports, data briefs, oral presentations, etc.
)· Experience in using health-related data sets and working with confidential data.
· Intermediate or advanced experience with statistical analysis software packages like SAS, R, or SPSS, and visual analytic tools such as Tableau or Power BI. - Other requirements include strong written and oral communication skills, ability to maintain community relationships and collaborate effectively with a team that includes NH Division of Public Health Services, town health officers, community leaders, and public; ability to successfully manage deadlines and produce high-quality data analyses; and excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: · Working knowledge of SEERStat is preferred or ability to learn within 6 months of hire. -Knowledge of cancer registry operations and data sources, such as SEER, CINA, and NCHS highly desired.
