Is responsible for entire engineering projects including documentation, parts selection and specification, construction, debugging, installation and (internal) customer interface as well as all aspects of project management. Interfaces with division management on strategic technical issues.
Primary Responsibilities: Works safely and promotes safety in all aspects of employment. Maintains a working knowledge of client's products, processes and machinery. Directs drafters, designers, and technicians assigned to his projects. Obtains outside resources as required to accomplish project goals. Coordinates projects with other departments as required. Designs complex processes and equipment
and supervises construction, debugging, and installation; builds original equipment through basic research and experimentation. Originates projects for new or modified products and processes.
Makes branch plant trips or vendor visits as required to accomplish project objectives. Makes cost and schedule estimates on new or reworked machinery for project proposals. Develops project plan for proposed projects. Is the project leader of assigned projects and is responsible for all aspects of project management (budget and schedule control, status reporting, customer interface, performance to design objectives, etc. ) Maintains a high skill level in product, process, and mechanical development
as well as project management by means of outside reading, technical courses, etc.
Maintains and improves advanced computer skills (word processing, spread sheets, Auto CAD, project management, etc. ) Maintains records ands writes technical reports. Maintains an engineering notebook to protect intellectual property. Contributes ideas for product development, process improvement, and equipment development that will improve safety or competitive advantage. May participate in business unit or decision strategic planning. Has a good working knowledge of client procedures, ER&D Department procedures and knows key technical people in the organization. May have a new engineer or designer assigned to him for orientation and initial learning phase of the job.
Works closely with manufacturing personnel, division managers, marketing, and other disciplines as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Preferred: Bachelors degree in engineering or related field Experience: At least 3 years related experience as or equivalent to an Engineer III Experience in Tool Room Knows how to evaluate tooling & Plastic Injection Molding Experience
