Location: This position is in INDOTs Seymour District. Role Overview: An Associate Construction Engineer is responsible for assisting
with construction projects that range from preventative maintenance to new construction of INDOT's facilities (e.
g. roadways, bridges, and traffic signals). INDOT is seeking recent graduates interested in heavy highway construction who possess problem: solving skills needed to address issues encountered throughout all phases of construction. Individuals will gain experience interpreting contract documents to ensure contractors deliver a product that conforms to plans and specifications. In addition, you will be participating in on: site field checks, attending meetings, and being a part of construction decisions. Engineer Trainee: A Professional engineering license is not required for this position. Candidates who have an Engineering degree but do not hold a professional license are eligible for promotional increases upon achieving milestones, including passing the EIT exam, years of experience, and obtaining their professional engineering license. Once a candidate or incumbent has passed the EIT exam the salary traditionally starts at an annual salary of 53,222 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Candidates or incumbents who have obtained their Professional Engineer license, the salary traditionally starts at an annual salary of 67,314 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at 47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: : Assist in maintaining daily project records and files, and coordinate the work of technicians /surveyors, including daily reports of materials placed, location of work, project interruptions, contractor workforce size and composition, test results, and any other related information.Coordinate the sampling and testing of aggregates, steel, asphalt, soils and all other materials.Assist in examining and approving contractor requests for payment.Participate in preconstruction and partnering meetings.Meet with affecte
