The employee however, will be expected to work no more than five days per week. supervision of the Director of Revenue Cycle Management, the Surgery Coder/Biller shall provide all responsibilities necessary for the successful operation of the Billing & Collections Department for Zymeda Provider Solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Work is primarily performed in the Billing & Collections Department located in Moreno Valley offices. The duties of the Surgery Coder are of high volume, and the quality of duties performed is needed to be at a high level. The employee will come into contact on a daily basis with confidential patient and physician files. The Surgery Coder must be able to handle this information with the highest degree of privacy, discretion, and professionalism.
The Surgery Coder is responsible for accomplishing the duties set forth below: General Clerical Activities (There may be other duties required of this position not listed below): Code elective and trauma surgeries.
Post charges for surgeries coded. Assist collectors in auditing denials and in coding-related questions to appeal a claim. Review, code and enter into all elective and trauma surgery charges. Maintain a monthly inventory of all surgeries coded. Maintains procedures code master file. Maintains diagnosis code master files which consist of classifying improper codes and notifying proper medical staff. Carry out proper procedural coding principles. Contribute in educational activities.
Perform other responsibilities as may be called on by the Director of Revenue Cycle Management. Skill Requirements: Education: High school diploma or equivalence. CPC Certification required. The ability to type 40 words per minute. Skill in operating a computer and scanner, as well as software programs including Outlook. Telephone etiquette and professional communication skills are required. Must be able to work under strict deadlines. Should be able to interpret documentation and have knowledge of coding levels. Must be proficient in CPT, ICD10, HCPCS, RBRVS, Medical Terminology, Modifiers, guidelines of E&M, and Workers Compensation billing requirements for California.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in surgery coding with a strong billing background. Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting and walking, with daily occasional stooping, reaching, and bending. Occasional lifting up to thirty pounds. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone and personal communication. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboards and other office equipment. RELATIONSHIPS: The Surgery Coder should observe and conduct the following relationships: The employee shall be responsible directly to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
The employee shall report to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management and his/her assignees any progress, reports, requests, concerns, problems, and/or expectations in relation to the responsibilities of the position. Such communication may be verbal or written as deemed necessary by the employee or as directed by the Director of Revenue Cycle Management or his/her assignee. The employee shall interact with other office and clinical staff in the Practice. Such interactions should be collegial and professional.
The employee may interact with the public. Such communication should always reflect the total commitment of the office to quality care and customer satisfaction. All communication should be professional and any unresolved conflicts are to be reported to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
