Position Overview A Quality Control Intern will be given the opportunity to work with a vertically integrated company and experience multiple aspects of customer specification requirements in construction management as well as other lines of business.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Skills and Development during Internship: Receive detailed understanding of the HMA production processes. Learn Quality Control methods and reporting procedures. Learn entire paving process and density control. Work with QC Technicians to
further understand smoothness determinations and IRI reporting. Learn how to conduct and test equipment calibrations. Work to understand aggregate processing and quality conformance.
Assist with testing materials in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. Identify and become familiar with various mix specifications requirements. Test materials to determine specific requirements such as weight, gravity, temperature, thickness, and gradation of mix components. Communicate with other technicians regarding mix specifications and test results. Input test result data into computers in laboratories and remote locations. Communicate and assist paving personnel in adjusting processes to conform
to specifications. Report and communicate test results ethically, adhering to the companies Ethics Policy.
Other Requirements: Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures. Strict adherence to Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Education and Experience Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and working towards an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Construction Management, or other industry related degree program.
Language Skills: Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals and regulations. Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform intermediate mathematical skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and shop math. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid conditions, airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold.
