In addition to servicing and installing equipment, the Electronics Technician will run tests on equipment to locate issues. They also order parts if needed, and install replacement parts, including reassembling circuit boards or motor components. The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor
design that is safer, simpler, easier and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels.
It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing. With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power. Position Summary: This role will support design development Structural engineering designs for the project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with other Structural engineers and technical disciplines in a team environment.
Responsibilities: Originate and check complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations and specifications. Originate and check complex structural analysis models using ANSYS or GT STRUDL. Reviews and coordinates technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines. Prepare technical reports relates to specific design issues. Provides technical direction to designers and less experienced engineers as directed. Assist in constructability reviews. Basic Qualifications: BS Degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural or related), from an accredited university, with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
In lieu of a degree, 15 years of professional experience. This role requires a facility-specific clearance that requires U. S. Citizenship or permanent residency status. Minimum Qualifications: Proficient in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or ANSYS. Prior experience working in a Nuclear Quality and Safety Environment. Ability to independently perform structural analysis of nuclear structures. Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally. Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential.
Experience with CADD applications, such as Micro Station, Tekla and Navis Works. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, and background check. Preferred Qualifications: Have a U. S. Professional Engineering (PE) license Experience in the structural analysis and design of Nuclear facilities, including seismic. Proficient in the use of Mathcad or similar software. Thorough knowledge of the provisions of ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 4-98, ASCE 7, and IBC codes. Familiar with Bechtel standard programs.
Familiar with all Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs) and their application to projects. Knowledge of design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPS). Experience in the structural analysis design of Nuclear facilities, including seismic. Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence. Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures. Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
