- Corrosion Engineering will support Ergon Armor's business, with a specific focus on chemical-resistant membranes, linings, flooring, tile adhesives and grouts, joint sealants, brick mortars, and concretes used in our industrial corrosion and wear product line.
Chemistries for these products include epoxy, vinyl ester, phenolic, furan, potassium silicate and other polymers; carbon-, silica-based and other fillers. The Technical Manager will interact with vendors, procurement, production, product stewardship, sales, and customers. Work is primarily hands-on in the laboratory. Supervision of other team members is likely in the future, as warranted by the growth of the business segment.
The Technical Manager will focus on product development/enhancement, property/performance testing, and quality/performance troubleshooting for a wide range of products.
They will oversee projects through completion and are required to ensure an efficient and technical services, including smooth workflow through the lab. The Manager must possess the ability to multi task, manage tasks in a deadline-driven environment, and display effective time management and organizational skills. The Technical Manager must take ownership and accountability of work to ensure results are accurate, timely, and dependable. They will also be a participating member of the overall Specialty Coatings team to
support Ergon Armor's Specialty Coatings customers and product lines.
Technical Manager - Corrosion Engineering Responsibilities: Communicate with the Technical Director and Ergon Armor Leadership team on status of work in the lab. Provide interpretation and recommendations for test results by citing conclusions and recommendations. Verify lab data is accurate and re-evaluate questionable results as needed. Review all completed paperwork for accuracy regarding data, specifications, and formulations used. Review and create reports as as needed. Maintain up to date, accurate, and thorough lab notebook. Work with raw material suppliers, vendors, and toll manufacturers to ensure product performance and quality specifications are met.
Keep current with applicable testing requirements and standards (ASTM, AMPP, NACE, etc. ) Maintain a lab is that is clean and organized. Maintain lab equipment to ensure that it is clean, calibrated and in working order. Understand and comply with Ergon Armor's Environmental Health & Safety rules, regulations, and policies. Any other duties as assigned by the Technical Director. Technical Manager - Corrosion Engineering Qualifications: Bachelor's in Chemistry, Engineering, or related technical field is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Outlook; Word; Excel.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of industrial corrosion and wear. For external applicants, any offer of employment will require a clean MVR, drug screen, and background report.
