In the Behavioral Research Specialist I role, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards to conduct behavioral backssments on NHPs, participate in discussions pertaining to enrichment, as well as evaluate and implement novel behavioral data collection methodologies.
Additional duties may include establishing pairs/social groups and monitoring for compatibility, as well as using positive reinforcement to train animals for various site needs. You may also be asked to prepare for incoming animal shipments, and work with animal care managers and staff on any necessary adjustments to husbandry.
You may also be asked to work with other species, such as but not limited to ungulates and mice.
Who are we looking for? A candidate with a BS in a scientific discipline, OR an AA degree and related practical experience, is required. A minimum three years of experience in a laboratory animal setting required; experience performing animal observations and behavioral backssments, as well as an understanding of the applications of positive reinforcement training, highly desired. The pay for this position is $32.00 USD per hour.
