The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program provides individual, goal-directed rehabilitation services to help each patient achieve the highest possible level of physical, cognitive and behavioral function preparation for return to their community.
Patients in this program may be offered therapy six days a week - based on the needs and tolerance of the patient and have access to outstanding rehabilitation facilities, including well-equipped gyms, a 48-foot hydrotherapy pool, a healing garden, sports courts and the beautiful grounds of the Institute. Qualifications Education & Experience Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required. Associate degree required; BSN preferred.
One year nursing experience. Solid knowledge and clinical skills. Current CPR certification required. Up-to-date status on all mandatory training and classes. Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education every two years. Member of a professional organization. Recent applicable clinical experience in a comparable setting. Advances clinical practice on the unit, consistently integrates evidence into practice and uses this as a firm foundation for unit practice. Service/Quality: Leads efforts to address nursing quality indicator improvement opportunities; develops/implements and evaluates action plans. Leads performance improvement initiatives by designing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating results. Monitors patient
and unit safety standards; actively contributes to development and implementation of improvement plans.
Coaches CNI and CNIIs on PI and/or evidence-based practice. Complies with, participates and leads TJC/CARF regulatory activities in the unit/division or organization. Leads in the development of Performance Improvement, or Evidence Based Practice, or research at the unit level. Unit Operations: Performs charge role as scheduled; coaches new charge nurses. Oversees unit orientation program. Plans clinical experiences for orientation. Serves as a unit liaison for other departments such as lab, nutrition, shop, etc. Mentors and coaches other nurses to advance their development and to maintain competencies required for the patient population served.
Orients nurses to the shared governance structure and councils Professional Development: Serves as an expert preceptor, coach and mentor to new nurses, students and preceptors Mentors and coaches unit leaders or those assuming leadership roles on councils or major governance initiatives. Leads unit processes for development of ancillary personnel's skills and development; leads unit based peer review processes. Actively engaged in advancing own practice; role model for others.
