Your Responsibilities An electrification intern supports product analysis, design, and/or testing activities for electric drive components and systems used on vehicles worldwide.
Specific activities vary by position but will include one or more of the following responsibilities: Li-Ion battery development inclusive of design, analysis and testing of cells, modules, battery management system MS hardware, battery management system BMS software, pack level thermal and structural design, and battery modeling. inclusive of design, analysis, and testing of 250W - 200k W+ surface permanent magnet motors and internal permanent magnet motors, electromagnetic design, thermal design, high speed structural design, position sensing, and mechanical design.
Moline, IL and Fargo, ND based. Power electronics hardware development inclusive of design, analysis, and testing of inverters, converters, and chargers. Topology, power stage, sensing, thermals, power passive components, and packaging. Fargo, ND based. Control systems for motor drives and converters inclusive of simulation, implementation, and system testing of new algorithms, control system parameters, physical system modeling, system identification, signal estimation, and advanced diagnostics/prognostics.
Cary, NC and Fargo, ND based. Electrification system and vehicle development inclusive of design, analysis, vehicle integration, and testing of electric drive systems consisting of batteries, inverters, motors, converters, and chargers to meet vehicle performance goals. This includes requirements, system concepting, vehicle integration and interfaces, lab testing of system performance, and vehicle testing of performance. Waterloo, IA; Moline, IL; Cary, NC based. What Skills You Need Excellent communication skills.
Working knowledge and hands-on experience testing electrical components using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies. Familiarity with a symbolic programming language such as Simulink or Lab View. Experience using modeling tools such as Matlab/Simulink and circuit analysis software. Experience with electric machines, or inverters/converters/chargers, or Li-Ion batteries, or electric vehicle systems, or electric drive control systems. Enrolled in an Engineering Masters or Ph D program. Strong candidates will have course work or research with a concentration in an electric machines, power electronics, batteries, hybrid vehicles, or dynamics and control.

Product Engineering Solutions to Vehicle Platform teams. This role is to facilitate the infrastructure procurement and deployment of Hardware in Loop systems for the test verification and validation teams. This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.
Duties: Participate in factory team meetings to understand the scope and requirements for new HILs and modifications to existing HILs. Assist in the design and configuration for new and updated HIL systems in support of vehicle platform needs. Provide onsite support to install and verify new HIL units. Perform modifications, upgrades,
or troubleshooting for existing systems. This includes Data Acquisition Equipment used for simulation, load boxes, power supplies, IO channels, communications networks, PCs and monitors.
Provide real-time support to troubleshoot and correct electrical issues on HIL simulators as required to maintain operational readiness. For HIL systems, this includes documentation of findings and root cause for potential warranty follow up with suppliers. Update HIL systems with new software releases from supplier. Provide onsite support during startup, testing and validation of new and modified HIL systems. Perform electrical troubleshooting, modifications, and corrective actions as required. Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Ag & Biosystems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering when applied with electronics (mechatronics), Mechatronics Engineering, or commensurate experience.
1 year of industry experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues on embedded electrical systems or on the test infrastructure used to test embedded electrical systems. Ability to interpret and create or maintain electrical schematics. Ability to self-manage moderately complex and simultaneous priorities from different stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and an excellent communicator Strong time management & organizational skills Preferred Skills: Experience building and maintaining Hardware in Loop (HIL) simulators.
Vehicle system design, simulation, and testing experience. Experience with the implementation or debugging of J1939 CAN protocol. Experience with Simulink and MATLAB is beneficial. Experience with ETAS beneficial. Experiences with NI Veri Stand beneficial.
