Position Overview The Correctional Shift Supervisor position serves as a supervisor in IDOC facilities and is a vital position for the custody, control, and safety of all IDOC facilities. The ideal candidate should be able to manage issues and concerns of staff and individuals in custody to facilitate effective

Job Responsibilities Plans, coordinates and directs a security force in housing and custodial services on an assigned shift. Serves as full-line supervisor. Coordinates security for vocational, education/treatment, activity-based programs. Receives, reviews and approves Roster Master sheets for shift assignments. Participates in clinical, professional, administrative meetings. Prepares and submits various reports, Wardens monthly activity reports, performance evaluations, unusual incidents, discipline referrals and revised procedures.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school and completion of an approved correctional officer trainee program. Requires five (5) years of supervisory experience in a custody program in a correctional institution or setting. (“Supervisory experience” refers to supervising or directing correctional employees, including as a lead worker). Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance) Prefers two (2) years of experience in a penal or security institution serving in a role equivalent to IDOC Correctional Sergeant or Correctional Lieutenant.
Prefers experience using Microsoft Outlook, Disciplinary Tracking, or similar software. Prefers 1 or more years’ experience with roster management and overtime equalization. Prefers 1 or more years’ experience utilizing Offender 360 (O360). Conditions of Employment Requires ability to carry a firearm. Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
