Position Summary/Position The UX Researcher is responsible for conducting user experience research that will be the foundation of and help in defining the future design and development of our products and services.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Head of Experience Design, the UX Researcher is responsible for understanding users and uncovering their needs by conducting qualitative and quantitative, foundational and evaluative user research, performing usability studies while working with cross-functional teams. The UX Researcher will inspire change, deliver oral and written presentations, evaluating
qualitative and quantitative data, and providing insights that help the UX and Digital teams to make the user experience more intuitive, accessible, and seamless.
The UX Researcher will build strong relationships with the digital experience team and other lines of business to enable a better understanding of internal and external users of IEHP’s digital experiences. Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities) 1. Conduct primary and secondary user experience research using industry-standard research methodologies such as usability studies, surveys, focus groups, contextual inquiry and diary studies. 2. Conduct both quantitative and qualitative research to deliver industry-standard outcomes
and deliverables such as personas, user journeys, usability test reports and Heatmaps.
3. Perform market and ethnographic research using common research methods such as surveys, field studies, observations and other methods necessary, and derive conclusions that enable demographic segmentation, user needs and insights into user behavior. 4. Work closely with cross-functional teams of UX designers, visual designers, marketing and innovation to identify and evaluate research topics. 5. Plan and implement user research strategies and methodologies by researching and understanding specific IEHP needs, target demographics and help in defining a strategic research roadmap and identifying suitable research methodologies and defining and measuring specific research KPIs and success criteria.
6. Advocate research findings to diverse audiences such as the UX design and development teams, IEHP Executives, Marketing and Member and Provider Services departments through written and oral presentations. 7. Create a culture of research advocacy by demonstrating the value and importance of User research. 8. Mentor and coach other members of the team from a UX Research perspective. 9. Collaborate with UX Designers, Visual Designers and explain research insights and brainstorm design solutions to address Research outcomes.
10. Evaluate experience design solutions from the perspective of user research insights. 11. Perform usability studies in a Usability lab setting and using remote tools and set up scripted and free-form usability tests. 12. Use UX research and usability tests to derive actionable _insights and metrics based on organization goals, UX Design vision and user needs that inform the digital strategy and prepare reports for senior leadership and digital and design teams. 13. Turn research data into actionable insights that provide a traceability for design decisions.
14. Use a diverse set of UX research tools and techniques including usability labs, remote testing tools to research users, observe user behavior and understand user needs. Preferred Experience Education Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required, preferably in a related field relevant to Human Computer Interaction, or Information design. Preferred Education Master’s Degree from an accredited institution preferred.
