Primary Purpose Responsible for basic and routine repair, preventive maintenance tasks, and maintenance documentation on various equipment throughout Parkland Health System, to ensure all equipment is safe and operational.
Minimum Specifications Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Experience: Must have two years of experience in general building maintenance working with plumbing, HVAC, electrical, lighting, drywall repair, and equipment
maintenance. Certification/Registration/Licensure: Prefer a trade school certification Required Tests for Placement None Skills or Special Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate a basic working knowledge of proper safety procedures.
Must possess a basic working knowledge of plumbing maintenance and electrical maintenance - to include lighting and equipment maintenance. Must be able to demonstrate basic skill in the proper use of power and hand tools. Must be able to demonstrate basic skills in soldering copper pipe. Must be able to communicate effectively with department and Hospital personnel both orally and in writing. Must be able to read and interpret sketches, drawings, and technical
instruction manuals. Must have basic computer skills. Must be physically able to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.
Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for basic and routine repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance work orders throughout the Parkland Health & Hospital System to ensure that all mechanical equipment is safe and operational. 2. Performs work requests to ensure that department/area customers facility issues and needs are addressed in a timely and quick manner. 3. Takes ownership of assigned tasks that effectively and positively represents the Facilities/Engineering Services department and ensures completion of work requests and ensures customer satisfaction.
4. Assists other Parkland staff with use and repair of equipment. Serves as a resource person, while providing literature and information in order to assist other personnel with the repair and use of mechanical equipment and machinery. 5. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the repair and preventative maintenance field by attending inhouse seminars and workshops, and reading professional journals and internal publications in order to improve professional knowledge. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
6. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and missions of the assigned department and Parkland Health & Hospital System. 7. Maintains a positive working relationship with job related contacts, such as management, patients, employees, contractors, and vendors in order to improve overall departmental and area performance and to ensure that all job contacts are pleasant and productive. 8. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the assigned department.
Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding. 9. Other duties as assigned. Engineering Manager, Maintenance Supervisors, Production Supervisors, Scheduler, and all other production staff. Troubleshoot, maintain and install Mechanical, Electrical (PLC's), Pneumatic, and Hydraulic systems to provide maximum percentage of uptime possible.
Troubleshoots and fixes manufacturing equipment such as wrappers, mixers, motors at the plant. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breakers panels. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. Monitors and ensures that the equipment is in excellent condition for operation. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on the equipment.
- Repairs faulty equipment or systems. Installs powers on the new manufacturing equipment. Comply with Environmental and Food Safety standards as set forth in plant policies/programs within Department responsibilities.
Requirements: Candidates must be able to swing shifts (Du Pont schedule) between nights and days (12-hour shifts) Maintenance knowledge with conveyor systems, palletizing systems, and furnace or ovens is desired. Minimum 5 years of experience in a production manufacturing environment. Technical school degree is desired, will consider years of experience, and/or equivalent educational experience. Ability to troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic systems
independently. Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude and good problem-solving skills.

industry electrical safety standards; Title 29. Working knowledge of NFPA 70 National electrical code and NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.

Understanding and working knowledge of PLCs (programming logic controller) and PLC troubleshooting. Complete small welding projects as needed. Completes all special projects associated with buildings or grounds, as requested including but not limited to moving furniture or fixtures, changing lights. Maintain facility assets through scheduled preventative maintenance and repair activities which include but not limited to roof inspections and repairs. Concrete and asphalt paving inspections and repairs. Concrete industrial wear-slab inspections and repairs including joint cleaning, routing, and filling. Product racking inspections and repairs. Automatic Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) inspections and repairs. Dock equipment (IE: Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic pit or vertical dock levelers; manual or electric dock doors; manual, electric, or hydraulic truck restraints; dock seals or shelters), inspections and repairs.
Responsible for logging time and materials into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) on a daily basis in the form of work orders, P. M. s, etc. Responsible for daily refrigeration operator duties including e PSM inspections and logs. Participate in departmental on-call program, as designated. Maintain all tools and equipment in a clean, safe, working order. Adhere to all safety requirements and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment required by the job.
Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety. Champion overall safety in the department. Comply with OSHA and other local, state and federal regulations. Adhere to Organization and the Facilities Department policies and procedures including appropriate attire, grooming, and attendance.
