As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Develop partnerships with private, tribal, State, and Federal agencies and other Service programs to develop and implement programs to collect, propagate, and use appropriate native plant material (seeds, seedlings, and whole plants) in restoration projects conducted on public, private, and tribal lands.
Serve as a Regional contact between Service conservation program coordinators and Tribal Nations for all aspects of native plant materials, development,
and habitat conservation activities. Formulate correspondence, comments, reports, recommendations, comprehensive strategies, and a variety of other written and oral communication products to identify, explain, and promote Service positions and policies with regards to native plant restoration and habitat conservation issues.
Represent the Service on work groups and other committees that address native plant restoration, seed increase efforts, habitat and enhancement issues. Assist development of national methods, demonstrations, and pilot projects as integrated approaches to habitat restoration using native plant materials. Qualifying experience includes: (1) evaluating species or habitat plans and developing collaborative solutions for resource management problems; (2) coordinating with and advising governmental (federal, state, local) agencies, Tribes, non-governmental organizations, industry representatives, private landowners, and/or others to conserve fish, wildlife, and/or plants; (3) dealing with difficult or controversial natural resources management issues and negotiating with stakeholders to find solutions and resolve conflicts; (4) building and maintaining relationships with Tribes, Tribal partners, States, or others to restore lands and enhance landscape resiliency.
