Summary: The intern in purchasing will be responsible for supporting the procurement process by researching and communicating with suppliers, analyzing data to identify cost savings, collaborating with other departments, developing procurement policies and procedures, and participating in supplier evaluations to ensure compliance with company policies. Responsibilities: Assisting with the procurement of goods and services from
suppliers, which may involve researching potential vendors, gathering quotes, and support buyers in negotiating pricing and terms. Support the tracking and monitoring order status and delivery times.
Analyze data to identify trends and potential cost savings, this could involve reviewing supplier performance metrics or conducting spend analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction. Communicating with suppliers to resolve issues or obtain information. Assisting with the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures. Creating documentation for purchasing processes or helping to improve existing procedures. Collaborating with other departments to ensure purchasing
needs are met, such as manufacturing or finance, to ensure that purchasing activities align with overall business goals.
Participating in supplier audits or evaluations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Assist in the process of tracking vendors OTD (On Time Delivery) performance, along with other metrics used to determine vendor reliability. Requirements: Currently enrolled in technical school or associate degree program in Supply Chain or a related program Proficient in the use of computers utilizing Windows programs as well as the ability to learn and use SAP operating system. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
