No Position Purpose: The Thayer Human Resources Director/Business Partner initiates and implements HR solutions in accordance with and in support of Thayer and Central HR business needs. This position serves as the primary point of contact for strategy implementation, organizational design, and employee relations for one or more complex business

units. Broad areas of responsibility include employee relations and engagement, staff recruiting/hiring plans and execution, employee performance management and annual review processes, employee recognition and promotions, department/staff reorganizations and HR data management.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp: Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Five or more years of human resources management experience (e. g. performing at a human resources generalist level or above) Contemporary knowledge of human resources policies, practices, and laws Ability to interact with others at all levels

Works closely with the Thayerand central leadership to ensure a consistent and shared understanding and interpretation of human resources policies for their client groups. Manages Thayer annual staff performance review and merit increase process, overseeing the process for engagement and compliance, and providing guidance and coaching to supervisors and staff. Manages and enters Dartmouth Online Recruitment and Reporting (DORR) and Payroll Authorization Smart Form (PASF) staff actions, ensures accurate and timely data entry for all staff actions.

Generates letters for a variety of staff actions including offers, extensions and promotions and ensures compliance with personnel file records management requirements Serves as primary liaison between Thayer and the Office of Human Resources. Works in collaboration with the Dartmouth Office of Visa and Immigration Services (OVIS) on staff immigration matters, understands OVIS policies and procedures, and ensures timely attention to new hire and extension cases.

Develops, prepares, generates, and analyzes ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to personnel information and data. Serves as a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion efforts for staff employees and related employee programs across Thayer, and Dartmouth, more broadly. Coordinates Thayer’s annual years of service award program, employee appreciation events and retirement events. Percentage Of Time: 40% Description: Faculty Appointments Serving as the faculty appointment administrator, tracks dates of faculty appointments for purposes of promotion, tenure, and extension review.

Generates faculty appointment letters; assists Dean’s Office with tracking information on faculty appointments and ensures compliance with personnel file records management requirements. Percentage Of Time: 5% Description: Recruitment and Onboarding Provides oversight and counsel to hiring managers throughout the entire recruitment cycle for all exempt and non-exempt staff. Provides guidance on recruiting experiences and best practices, and participates on search committees, as requested. Works with Talent Acquisition team to advertise positions and screen candidates. Leads efforts to provide a robust and consistent on-boarding (and off-boarding) process for Thayer staff.

Guides and coaches Faculty Search Chairs through faculty recruitment efforts as needed. Manages the Academic Operations Manager who handles transactional work related to all faculty searches. Ensures appropriate and complete use of Interfolio, and works with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion as needed. Percentage Of Time: 20% Description: Employee Relations Guides communities on the fair, consistent, and respectful treatment of all employees. Provides coaching and support to managers and employees in support of performance management and performance improvement activities.

Engages with Thayer leadership, HR leadership and the Office of General Counsel on legal and sensitive matters. Provides coaching and support to managers as needed to develop and implement performance improvement plans and other disciplinary action. Serves as sounding board and consultant to managers, helping them develop into stronger leaders and supervisors.
