As a Maintenance Technician I, you will perform manual and semi-skilled work in the care and maintenance of assigned City equipment, facilities, and grounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clean and make minor repairs to walls, windows, doors, and floors.

Straighten up work areas and move furniture, materials, and supplies. Pick up trash, run sweepers, clean shelters, restrooms, elevators, and stairs. Purchase, pick up, and deliver supplies, parts, and materials. Operate a variety of standard power tools and equipment in grounds and building maintenance and repair activities. Perform preventative maintenance and make minor repairs to appliances, vehicles, and electrical fixtures.

Assist in the maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of plumbing, heating, ventilation, and electrical fixtures and systems. Conduct general maintenance on facilities and grounds, including painting, concrete repair, sign maintenance, mowing, and snow/ice removal.

Perform basic troubleshooting and emergency actions related to the Parking Utilities' Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) equipment and software for positions assigned to Parking Utility. Responsibility: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of two years of experience in general building and grounds maintenance and repair work. Must maintain a valid driver's license. Positions assigned to the airport must successfully complete an annual TSA background check. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledge of semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance and repair practices. Familiarity with standard hand and power tools used in facilities and grounds maintenance. Understanding of safety standards and precautions related to tools, chemicals, and heavy physical labor. Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.

Competency in operating motor vehicles and using radios and related equipment. Courteous and authoritative interaction with the public. Ability to operate mechanical equipment for snow removal. Ability to operate trucks equipped with trash compactors if assigned to Parks Management Center. Work Environment: May involve confined spaces, hazardous traffic conditions, or high/dangerous places requiring ladders. Exposure to wet/humid conditions, outdoor weather, vibration, airborne particles/fumes, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, loud noise levels, potentially hazardous bodily fluids, or cancer-causing agents/chemicals.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk and listen. Must have attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, drive, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb/balance. Repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement for typing and computer work. Clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and color distinction. May be required to lift 100 or more pounds. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Hours/Days: Evenings and weekends. Hours are varied based on department needs.
