products and support current product. Perform mechanical characteristic testing of new and existing products. Responsible for designing VAS (Vehicle Antenna Systems) products from concept to release. Support the product development and the enhancements of new and existing automotive antennas products by designing experiments to qualify designs and materials against customer specifications and functional parameters, optimize the design for cost and quality by conducting experiments and FEA simulations, and lead troubleshooting and engineering analysis efforts on failed parts during validation testing to find root-causes and recommend design changes.
What You Will Do • Interface with customers
and present design solutions. • Develop new products that support current product lines or help establish new product lines utilizing NX CAD. Lead analysis and research of embedded systems design products for automotive industry.
• Lead new product development projects from concept through preparation of turnover to manufacturing. • Lead advanced simulation efforts supporting design engineers with FEA structural and thermal analyses, and CFD thermal management analyses for electronics across global sites. • Provide mechanical engineering expertise to a variety of projects in the development of products and equipment. • Lead diagnostics efforts, perform methodical troubleshooting, and
recommend mitigation measures. Reduce design and tooling iterations using predictive modeling and simulation.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns. • Technical Environment: UGNX modeling, FEA modeling and analysis, ANSYS, ABAQUS. • Analyze test results and the effect of material properties, geometry, and test conditions. • Analyze the various mechanical load conditions on the antenna components. • Work directly with customers, and internal teams to identify requirements, establish expectations, and meet agreed upon mechanical performance, and goals for projects. • Enhance the various aspects of the mechanical design by conducting engineering simulations to with FEA structural and thermal analyses, and CFD thermal management analyses for electronics across global sites.
• Perform analysis on automotive antenna modules and radio suppression capacitors including: o FEA modeling and analysis to simulate durability tests and automotive product performance in the areas: thermal shock, thermal cycling, shock force, vibration, water intrusion… etc. o Structural FEA analysis on various material to understand stress distribution and verify sufficient strength under various load conditions, plastic parts to study deflection and snapping features, metallic sheet metal parts for conductivity and spring-back, gaskets and sealing mechanisms and fastening mechanisms.
o Thermal/heat transfer FEA analysis on TCUs, antennas, and vehicle roofs o Vibration FEA analysis on brackets, suppression capacitor modules, and other products o Perform assembly and tolerance analysis simulations on CAD models for assemblies. o Mold flow analysis on plastic injection molded parts. o Curvature analysis for vehicle roofs o Geometrical analysis on fastening mechanism and on assembly process • Interpret analysis results with respect to results obtained by lab testing procedures, converting these results into practical design templates based on given geometry model, and providing structural support to the design team.
• Writing reports and preparing presentations for summarizing the analysis results and reviewing all project-related analysis results for ensuring the accuracy of project reports • Utilize lessons learned and test results to recommend design improvements. • Select materials to meet mechanical, environmental requirements while embodying the most cost-effective solutions possible. • Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.

Visit Customer plants to take roof fit measurements and verify the antenna fit on vehicles Who You Are • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Master's degree preferred. • 3-year experience OR 1+ year experience for Master's Degree. • Experience with mechanical design utilizing UGNX modeling. • Mechanical and thermal FEA simulations using ANSYS and/or ABAQUS. • Demonstrated Mastery of a mechanics of materials including plastics and metals. • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
