The Chandler Emergency Department consists of 5 different areas where care is provided: triage where the patient is seen to determine how to prioritize their care needs, chair centric and express care intended for low acuity patients that can be seen and discharged within 60 minutes, these patients usually have minor complaints like sore throat, an isolated extremity injury, or simple laceration.
The acute care area is a 16-bed area where common emergency complaints like abdominal pain, stable chest pain, and mild to moderate shortness of air receive care. Critical care has 8 beds and patients in this area range from trauma patients who have been resuscitated
in the trauma area and need continuing care to patients in need of intensive care unit treatment such as septic patients or those receiving vasoactive infusions.
And finally, the UK Level I Trauma Center has 8 beds capable of caring for the most complex injured patients. This position works one-on-one with a Registered Nurse (RN) to complete delegated tasks and provide direct patient care such as: obtain vital signs, phlebotomy, documentation, assist with ADL's (activities of daily living), order and stock supplies, respond to patient call lights, unit orientation, and patient admission, transfer, and discharge. Special Procedures Supply Coordinator collaborates with Patient Care Coordinators, Value Analysis Director, Surgery, Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology leadership to achieve a zero- defects environment related to availability of supplies, devices and equipment. Job Duties Maintains and manages multi-million dollar expenditures of supplies, devices, equipment (including implants,
bone, tissue, and other physician preference requested items needed) by ordering, purchasing, unpacking, and stocking/tracking medical supplies. Frequent collaboration with department/division to determine appropriate substitutes, as needed.
Reviews scheduled surgical/clinical procedures in EPIC Scheduling module to determine the availability of necessary equipment/supplies. Huddles with nursing management to review surgical cases and interventional procedures to ensure physician requests are secured forcase start time. Acts as a liaison between supply chain, value analysis, vendor service representatives, A/P, Risk Management, Corporate Compliance and Revenue Cycle. Utilizes Lawson and
EPIC Information systems extensively. Maintains accurate information for implant lot numbers within the enterprise resource planning system and uses available mobile technology to its fullest potential.
Monitors/maintains inventory levels daily in multiple stocking locations. Monitors, moves and removes expired products or products near expiration. Monitors multi-million dollar consignment inventory, including all related files and documentation. Monitors and manages product recall alerts. ensures " chain of custody" for all tissue and mesh products as per JCAHO requirements. Performs analysis of supplies and equipment utilization for the purpose of standardization and cost effectiveness.
Participates in standardization and/or cost reduction initiatives. Participates in annual physical inventory preparation and execution. Provides necessary documentation for department leadership to modify and update Physician Preference Cards which drive the accuracy of case start time and zero defects environment, Responsible for all surgical and interventional equipment repairs. Special Procedures Supply Coordinator ensures that high priority repairs are expedited via oversight services and that loaner products are available until repairs are back in service.

(d) Ability to evaluate practical and technical information from manufacturers, contract specifications, manuals, and historical data in order to perform analysis required to make effective recommendations concerning operation, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment. (e) Ability to perform testing and troubleshooting of medical devices involving their interfaces and connections to other medical devices, clinical systems, or information systems either directly or through the hospitals hardwired and wireless networks.
(f) Ability to use application software and hardware as it relates to the operation and diagnostics of medical equipment. (g) Knowledge of computer equipment with a wide variety of software to input and retrieve data as required, and to prepare a variety of specific working documents and forms such as spreadsheet, database, word processing, and other similar products. GS-11 Experience: (Full Performance Level) At least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level.
Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist (CLES), Net+ and A+ are highly desirable at this level but not required. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Knowledge of a wide range of sciences including, but not limited to, electronics (analog and digital), computer science/networking, mechanical engineering design, pneumatics, hydraulics, chemistry, physiology, medical terminology, anatomy, optics, and biology to perform duties of a broad scope and nature on complex and sophisticated patient-related medical systems and sub-systems.

(d) Skill in the use of all types of test and calibration equipment such as digital multi-meters, electrical safety analyzers, defibrillator analyzers, patient simulators, digital oscilloscopes, pulse generators, and Local Area Network (LAN) analyzers in performing troubleshooting/repair and preventive maintenance activities. (e) Ability to configure and maintain medical servers and desktop computers. (f) Knowledge of contracting regulations, requirements, and specific contract specifications including performance-based contracts.
