This underwriter would be responsible for underwriting an assigned book of up to $8m in premium. This role would service between three and six of the 14 branches in the Midwest region branches.
Commercial Insurance writes companies with revenues up to $1B, including both guaranteed cost and loss sensitive program structures. This underwriter will be charged with directly underwriting and growing a book consisting mainly of general middle market business, including but not limited to Manufacturing, Professional Services, Cultural Institution and Wholesale
business. The position will be charged with building strong relationships with their assigned agency/broker plant to retain accounts and will work closely with the respective Commercial Insurance Managers, Industry Practice Leaders, Territory Underwriting Managers and home office line of business leaders to position this portfolio within Commercial Insurance for growth and profit.
This role is also responsible for writing new business through cross sell and account rounding. Responsibilities The Renewal Underwriter will: Underwrite primarily renewals for an assigned book of business. Establish relationships with key trading partners and drive strong account retention activity across assigned

In conjunction with the Underwriter Associate, retain key assigned renewals and lead coordination of Risk Engineering & Claims Service where needed. Responsibilities will include: · Handle day-to-day set-up and underwriting of new prospects as well as renewals· Underwrite specific and aggregate stop loss for groups transitioning from Fully Insured or Level Funded to Level Funded or traditional Self Funded· Analyze risk and make pricing recommendations on Stop Loss business within stated authority limits· Analyze and underwrite with claim reports for Fully Insured transition prospects that may be of varying contract types, contain limited claims experience, or limited diagnosis information· Utilize AI technology to underwrite groups with

Desired qualifications include: · Previous experience working with the Kevin Ugan or David Young software system· Previous experience underwriting stop loss for groups that are currently Fully Insured or Level Funded· Previous experience underwriting Fully Insured, Level Funded, or Captive business is a plus· Previous experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence technology to underwrite with limited or no data· A four year (or greater) college degree in finance, business, mathematics, or related discipline.
· Familiarity with pricing RBP in addition to traditional networks· 5-10 years of experience underwriting stop loss· Excellent time management skills· Excellent communications skills required – both written and oral

Review renewal & new business submissions for completeness. Reach out to broker for missing information in tandem with Underwriter Send renewal letters to brokers for upcoming accounts, request policy numbers.
Identify proper forms and endorsements used in go forward renewal policy construction in tandem with Underwriter. Complete and submit accurate Rating instructions for workers' compensation, general liability, and automobile liability lines of business to processing center. Review for accuracy. Process
Auto UM/UIM forms, Auto DMV reporting, Auto Filings, Auto Certificates or Proofs of Coverage. Process WC Posting notices, WC Certificates or Proofs of Coverage, Workers Compensation CAT & Industrial Aircraft models Pull and save audits.
Complete comparisons Year over year with various tools. Pull Non-Renewal Notices and Save to file Follow up for missing information and process and submit policy issuance instructions on behalf of Underwriter for both Domestic and incidental Foreign Casualty. Interface with processing center to ensure all questions addressed to ensure proper quality work product. Review policies upon receipt for accuracy, submit corrections and ensure policy delivery to
brokers. Mail off Notices of elections to specific States. Submit endorsement requests to processing center.
Process WC Bureau Criticisms and submit endorsements requests as needed. Work closely with States and internal and external trading partners to bring about conclusion in a timely fashion particularly if fine bearing. Maintain service standards for all above transactions by timely response to broker requests and timely receipt of underwriting information. Communicate with all levels of employees to include, but not limited to, producers and internal personnel to confirm or obtain data needed for policy issuance and servicing.
