Responsibilities – Work you’ll do: Ensure computer servers and workstations operate at optimal performance and capacity: configure routers, gateway protocols, and multiple local area networks (LAN) and wide areas network (WAN) topologies such as bridges, token rings, point to point, fiber optic, thin-net and thick-net applications. Daily management
of site network and computer systems such as user administration, backup and user accounts management. Enforce server and workstation configuration standards.
These networks can include satellite or other special intelligence networks. Troubleshoot and monitor performance of cryptographic/encryption items. Administer UNIX, LINUX and Microsoft servers supporting Internet, email, and video teleconferencing services. Administer user account information, performance monitoring/tuning, data backups and restoration, system and network troubleshooting. Monitor all networks using network management software. Plan and install operating system and application software upgrades and enhancements.
Test, install and maintain software tools and utilities. Provide customer service to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
Supports US Army IT systems on site whenever and wherever deployed. Available to deploy to other countries and/or theaters to perform quick reaction technical support to US forces worldwide military contingency missions and requirements in potentially hazardous work environments. Required Experience, Skills, and Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or related field from an accredited college/university and six (6) years of demonstrated experience in the System Administration field. At least three of the following certifications: MS Windows Certification, CCNA, VMWare Certified, Professional (VCP), Net App, CISCO IAT Tier I Certification.
Expert level knowledge of current version of Scripting, UNIX System Administration, Windows NT administration, LAN/WAN, Networking Protocols and Domain Name Service. Must be familiar with LAN-based video teleconferencing standards and streaming video-on-demand. Understanding of multimedia and internet-based messaging such as voice, e-mail, universal messaging over standard platforms. Experience with network analyzers, probes and protocol diagnostics.
Expert level knowledge of TCP/IP internals, routing, addressing, sub-netting and design issues of routers, hubs etc. Knowledge of security operations such as security safeguards administration, access filter definition and penetration testing. Expert level ability to implement network security control services such as firewalls and advanced Authentication Systems. Expert level administration experience on current version of satellite, database, UNIX and MS NT server and Exchange Messaging systems. Recent experience troubleshooting encryption devices. Able to attain current required certifications/clearance requirements for working on a DOD network.
