This will include fluid changes, repairs, cleaning and other duties as assigned.
Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline industrial trucks and equipment, following manuals and using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake and other automotive systems. Completes in a timely and accurate manner the necessary paperwork associated with the position. Works out of the shop or in the field, as needed. Also keeps shop clean.
Maintains and services equipment on a daily basis. Utilizes hand tools and welding equipment when neces? sary. OTHER DUTIES: May be required to mow weeds and pick up trash when indicated.
May be required to distribute salts and mixtures as weather conditions and safety warrant. May be required to patch hard road surfaces when indi? cated. Irregular hours, 24 hour on-call availability and overtime may be required. Functions for which the PM mechanic is responsible are not limited to those set forth above. The employee shall perform functions, duties or assignments as given by a supervisor, consistent with ability, background and expertise. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school
diploma or GED required. Trade school, ASE or other certification in mechanical or related field strongly preferred.
Experience: One to two year's of automotive maintenance and/or tire repair experience. Certifications, Skills and Licenses: Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English. Ability to follow work orders, signals and oral instructions. Must be able to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance. Must be able to read accurately all gauges on equipment and make correct judgments in operation of the equipment.
Must be able to accurately estimate distances in order to maintain safety while operating equipment. Must be able to use tact and courtesy in working with a wide range of individuals, including the public, sometimes under tense circumstances. Must be knowledgeable of relevant traffic laws and regulations. Other: Ability to perform essential duties and adapt to working conditions. Outdoor work surface may be natural ground, asphalt or concrete, which may be dry, wet, slippery or contaminated with petroleum products and other chemicals. Worker is exposed to diesel fumes, as well as fumes from carbon, gasoline and acetylene gas. Worker is also exposed to dusty, dirty conditions and some work is performed in areas with poor ventilation.
Duties require climbing and descending stairs, ladders and steps. Work is conducted primarily during daylight hours. Depending on duties, employee may be subject to call out. Worker performs most duties as part of a select team. Some duties are performed as part of a larger group. Work hazards or potential work hazards include working around hot engines, using air guns, sledge hammer, working with and lifting large equipment and parts, working with various solvents and other chemicals, working with or around welding equipment, working with or near hoisted loads, and being exposed to extreme weather conditions.
