About the Opportunity This is an open position with Mon Power, a subsidiary of First Energy Corp.
[MP]Responsibilities for the Class C position Include but are not limited to: Actively participate in and promote the First Energy Safety Philosophy, work safely to advance the FE Safety Vision, follow safe work practices. Work onsite, in the field, at Mon Power substations and Mon Power power stations to maintain, troubleshoot, and install
protection and control equipment. Under direct supervision, install, test, calibrate, maintain, modify, and repair protective microprocessor and electromechanical relays (Westinghouse, GE, and SEL relays) and other equipment associated with controls in substations and power stations.
Work with Enoserv RTS, and Doble Pro Test relay testing software to calibrate and function test differential, line protection, and reclosing control schemes. Under direct supervision, install, test, modify, and maintain Substation Integration Equipment inclusive of the Substation SCADA equipment and networks to ensure reliable data availability to FE System Operators and other independent System Operators.
Under direct supervision, install, test, calibrate, maintain, modify, and repair communication links for telemetering, metering, load regulation, digitalfault recorders, and data communication.
Under direct supervision, investigate and document mis-operations of lines and equipment, Address equipment found to be out of calibration and unrepairable and work to mitigate reduced or inadequate protection situations. Under direct supervision, perform switching equipment ranging from 12k V through 765k V required to install, maintain, and modify controls equipment. Maintain mandated system reliability standards as implemented by FE to address compliance with FERC, NERC, PJM, and RFC.
Under direct supervision, install modify and maintain Critical Infrastructure Protection equipment facilities and networks that reside within FE substations and other facilities, and maintain the documented training required by FE CIP guidelines. Perform storm restoration duties within and outside Mon Power service territory. Qualifications for the class C position: Associates or Bachelors (preferred) Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology Pass the EEI Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) test. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license, obey all traffic laws, and practice defensive driving techniques.
Must be able to demonstrate safe work habits and adherence to strict safety procedures. Must be able to learn troubleshooting skills and must be able to effectively communicate the work task and prepare summary of test results. Must be able to read and interpret electrical control prints, wiring diagrams, and relaying schematics. Must be able to effectively navigate and edit data within a variety of different database programs. Must have good PC skills including experience with Microsoft programs.
Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds of test equipment or material. Must be willing to travel within the Mon Power service territory and complete tasks requiring overnights stays and work long hours as needed.
