holding fixture to meet project requirements. Analyze Engineering, Automation, and Sales teams to define and design required fixtures and components and develop detailed designs and drawings in support of new product development and existing product support.
Develop, design, and build prototypes to evaluate design concepts utilizing in-house additive manufacturing system or outside vendors. Utilize Design for Manufacturing methodologies to produce cost effective end items. Develop CAD best practices across engineering team and creates/updates database of design functions for future reference. Develops customer and internal engineering scope of work and solution design reviews to
understand and create requited fixturing, tooling and components. Adheres to “Good Manufacturing Practices” and other standards as required. Required Skills & Experience: Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent work experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of CAD models, parts, and skill using Solid Works (or similar software) and proficiency in designing mechanical parts and assemblies and creating appropriate design documentation. Strong working knowledge of common manufacturing operations, CAD standards, Geometric Dimensioning, & Tolerancing (GD&T), and mechanical tolerance stack-up analysis. Self-Starter/Self-Motivated. General mechanical aptitude Attention to detail a must.

Experience in steering wheel/ driver airbag modules required. Experience leading programs and teams with full engineering responsibility. Airbag module testing and performance analysis experience. Knowledge of plastic part design for injection molding. Knowledge of Injection Mold Tooling (gates, parting lines, action, etc. ) as it relates to part design. Plastic resin and materials selection knowledge as related to airbag modules and steering wheel components.
Ability to develop component and sub-assembly GD&T tolerancing and tolerance stack-up studies in support of manufacturing & craftsmanship goals. Knowledge of leather- and PUR wrapping processes and design limitations for steering wheels and driver airbags. Experience using CAE as a design and product optimization tool. Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner in a team environment. Identify and address issues in a direct, " data driven" manner. Self-motivated and enthusiastic; " coaching" style.
