Prepare wood, fiberglass, and metal surfaces for painting by removing old finishes, grease, rust, scale, and dirt by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water or abrasive blasting.3. Mix and match colors of paint, stain, shellac, calcimine or varnish with oil or thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies
or according to formula and specifications.4. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.5. Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.6.
Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats per specifications.7. Cut stencils and brush or spray lettering on surfaces.8. Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, wood or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.9.
