positive mental health and well-being of employees) On-site Parking We are currently looking for a new Quality Assurance Technician to join our day shift team. 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday to Friday Position Summary: Reporting to the QA Manager , this role is responsible for protecting the integrity of food products by performing quality sampling, testing, and completing all necessary documentation to regulatory, customer, and company requirements.
The incumbent will also be responsible for helping maintain compliance with hygiene, safety, and quality standards on the production floor Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for performing sampling and testing of raw materials/food products
at key stages of the production process, ensuring quality standards meets customer and company specifications (i.
e. sampling and testing seasonings, batter, breading, and marinade solutions) Performing random sampling of food product, measuring weight, size, and thickness to ensure it meets customer and company specifications. Utilize a wide variety of instruments and measuring devices for testing food samples including analytical scales, ovens, centrifuges, automatic pipettes, etc. Assist in performing periodic checks of the production and shipping and receiving areas for GMPs Perform temperature checks on food products and ensure that thermometers are properly calibrated.
Coordinate with the production department to perform and collect swabs samples, whenever it is deemed necessary. Ensure that the metal detectors, analytical scales and other food product screening devices are calibrated properly and in good working order. Assist the shipping and receiving department with the inspection of the quality of raw materials, ensuring that it is suitable for use by production. Assist with conducting GMP training for the production, maintenance, and sanitation staff, as well as temporary team members. Assist the production department in meeting the company's GMP, HACCP and SOPs standards.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives with respect to GMPs and Food Safety Assist in examining new and existing supplies of food ingredients, cleaning chemicals, and packaging materials. Ensure that employees and temporary workers are meeting compliance with all applicable food safety standards. Complete quality inspection reports or other quality assurance documentation. Actively participates in any food safety investigations. Participates and/or supports in all internal and external audits Help with general cleanup and other tasks as assigned Qualifications: We are looking for a very focused individual how has a strong attention to detail and evaluation skills 1-3 years of Quality Assurance or Food Manufacturing experience is a asset.
A post-secondary education in Food Science/Processing or related discipline is considered a strong asset. Previous experience with GMP, HACCP, Food Safety and Sanitation practices is an asset. Intermediate computer skills and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, & Share Point) Knowledge and experience utilizing SAP systems is considered an asset Strong oral and written communication skills.
Able to work in a cool environment (we mean that both ways- we're awesome and our plant is kept at a cool 2-4-degree temperature) An enthusiastic self-starter, who is able to work independently with minimum supervision. The Quality Manager is responsible for company-wide document control and quality management systems, ensuring compliance with internal, external, voluntary and statutory standards for quality systems and relevant company operations.
The Quality Manager leads the initiative to maintain the company's ISO 9001:2015 certification, with a concentration on meeting the service expectations and requirements of our customers. A successful candidate will ensure all products and services meet contractual
requirements and adhere to company and governmental standards. Candidate will be expected to lead and coordinate departments to help implement new process improvements.
Candidate must be willing to assist other departments and team members, and be motivated to assume additional responsibilities. Essential Functions: Develops, implements, evaluates, communicates, and maintains company-wide quality control system and goals, internal audits, quality manuals, processes, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with customer and government requirements as well as internal manufacturing and quality standards, particularly ISO 9001 certification standards. The qualifications we require from you: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited university, Engineering or Operations Management preferred but not required, plus a minimum of 2 years direct experience in Quality Control and Assurance; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Working knowledge of quality standards and management systems (e. g. AS9100, ISO 9001, ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1) or ISO training. The qualifications we'd like to have from you: Confident and dynamic personality; approachable and friendly with a positive and professional attitude Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Power Point, Word, Access). Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Prior experience with PEDYN P2000 (manufacturing MRP software) or with an ERP/MRP system. Prior experience working in federal contracting or in an engineering/manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment where a high degree of flexibility is highly preferred. Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently. Other Requirements: Must be a U. S. citizen or have the legal right to work within the United States. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and drug screen. Must possess acceptable forms of identification under the REAL ID Act. May require obtaining a U. S. Do D security clearance. Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance in order to work on projects/programs.
