A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CNC MACHINIST As a CNC Machinist, you're responsible for taking full command of our CNC machining process, which includes milling, turning, and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of materials and tool selection for proper application.
Throughout the manufacturing process, you machine large, complex parts as well as use a range of set-up techniques to ensure optimum quality and productivity. You maintain a thorough understanding of work fixture offsets and how to program different features. Additionally, you perform advanced metal-cutting operations and inspections of your own work products.
You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, continuous improvement, and a desire to achieve established quality and productivity levels. As needed, you attend work cell and company meetings. You also correctly fill out non-conforming part reports (NCRs) as well as develop process instructions that identify operations, tool sequences, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for parts requiring any kind of machining operation. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CNC MACHINIST College degree or trade school certification Proficiency with Gibbs Cam software, CNC programming, Fanuc, and Siemens controls Proficiency with all types of measuring tools and gages, including thread gages, bore gages, calipers, and tool pre-setters Ability to read blueprints both in English and metric using geometric tolerancing symbology Highly developed computer skills in Microsoft Windows Strong math skills Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills?
