http: // Job Summary As a Purchasing Associate, you will perform day to day administrative tasks that support purchasing activities for materials, equipment rentals, tools, services and other commodities. Essential Duties Perform activities necessary to rent, lease, or purchase commodities including materials, equipment, or services at competitive prices and terms, as required to meet or beat budget and/or project objectives.
Maintain and update ERP system to ensure system is up to date. Perform procurement activities; ensuring the execution of timely requisition submissions.
Create and review requests for quotes, negotiate and then source rates with approved suppliers. Effectively expedite delivery of goods and services from suppliers to meet user requirements. Compile and submit expense reports weekly for credit card orders. Maintains records for the purchasing department as needed. Obtain copies of supplier/subcontractor business documents including W9, COI, Contractor or Business Licenses. Follows up on orders to ensure that materials/services are shipped and delivered on promised dates. Work closely with
colleagues across departments; Estimating, Engineering, Project Management and Shop/Field Supervisors to ensure a seamless, fully integrated material flow to users to meet project requirements.
Fulfill requests from the estimating departments for budgeting of materials. Work with tool room supervisors to track and order consumable products. Provide all users in the company with effective purchasing services. Coordinate with accounting and finance to properly account for cost distributions. Perform all tasks with excellence, honesty and integrity. This position requires occasional travel to vendor / supplier sites. Possible overnight travel for training.
Other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, required. Must have clerical office support experience. 1+ years of professional purchasing experience in maintenance, repair, operating commodities in a heavy construction or service environment, is a plus. Must be p roficient with the Microsoft Office Suite. Possess a strong attention to details. Proven successful negotiation skills. Market knowledge in sourcing of materials and services, is plus. Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, MSHA, OSHA, or other regulations. Safety The Superintendent oversees and leads the effort to ensure a safe and clean jobsite to mitigate injuries and/or incidents by implementing Mid-State safety policies, procedures, and processes.
The Superintendent shall make continuous walk-throughs to ensure, always enforce and invoke proper site and personnel safety. Superintendent shall be required to conduct all safety meetings with the staff and subcontractors, complete all compliance reporting and maintain logs. Contracts/Scopes The Superintendent and PM shall work collaboratively to review the Owner contract as well as all Subcontractor exhibits to understand and have a strong working knowledge of the scopes of work to avoid duplicate work or having work performed unnecessarily and to ensure that all work is being installed in compliance with the contract documents.
Managing Change Order The Superintendent shall maintain documentation to supporting such extra work orders and distribute accordingly. Proper communication with the PM is essential to correctly manage and execute these changes orders. Project Documentation The Superintendent shall have a working knowledge of all project documentation and will coordinate and maintain documentation and their processes timely for such reports as daily reports, record drawings, SKs, Bulletins, requisitions, JSAs, Time Sheets, ASIs. RFIs, etc. Maintain QC book for activities directly supervised.
Subcontractor Meetings The Superintendent shall prepare for and conduct all subcontractor, safety, pre-construction, and coordination meetings as required and scheduled in order to maintain the project schedule, project progress, a safe job site and ensure to minimize conflicts or delay to the schedule. Project Close-Out The Superintendent shall manage the project close-out process including obtaining all inspections required by Mid-State and the customer (Federal Agencies when required). The Superintendent is responsible for the completion, signoff, and acceptance of the project punch list by the Owner and PM.
The Superintendent shall support and assist the PM with any closeout requirements on the project. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field 5-15 years of relevant construction experience required, preferably on Power Generation industry, industrial maintenance & construction. Team leader with excellent diplomatic and communication skills, able to handle and resolve conflicts effectively in a firm but fair manner Proven experience managing projects successfully from start to finish.
