STL operates a nationally recognized radar-modeling program supporting government-sponsored electromagnetic signature collection and materials development efforts.
An individual is sought to be responsible for the design, fabrication, and mm-wave/THz electromagnetic characterization of dielectrics, reflectors, absorbers, and ground planes. The individual will also be responsible for the operation, repair, and upkeep of several optical characterization systems (e. g. FT-IR, BWO, and VNA) as well as associated
electrical and mechanical characterization subsystems. Other responsibilities will include developing and operating Lab VIEW software for analysis of measured materials characterization data; maintaining the order, cleanliness, equipment functionality, and material supply for each of STL's materials fabrication and characterization laboratories; and assisting STL staff by exploring new areas of technical interest synergistic with STL’s mission.
The candidate should be motivated, growth-oriented, and capable of demonstrating their potential as a productive scientist. The candidate must be willing to work in small groups to meet team goals as well as operate independently to achieve individual
goals. The candidate must be able to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, be self-motivated, and able to work with limited guidance.
Minimum Qualifications (Required): A bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline with at least 3 years’ experience with materials fabrication and characterization is required, otherwise a master’s degree with 1 year of experience will be considered. The characterization of dielectric materials in at least one of the following regions of the electromagnetic spectrum is required: microwave, mm-wave, THz, infrared and optical. Applicants must demonstrate a basic understanding of the fundamental optical properties of dielectric and metallic materials.
Given the nature and responsibilities of the position, only U. This role is a full-time visiting post with a maximum 4-4 teaching load, with possible renewal at the end of the year based on positive performance in teaching and service.
Teaching load is adjustable pending on teaching and service needs in the department. Responsible for receiving and inspecting products, accurately labeling items and reporting any discrepancies in reconciliation of deliveries and invoices. Responsible for organizing and storing all incoming products in assigned locations, applying FIFO (first in, first out) inventory controls for perishable products.
May require training and operation of a manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack, and/or forklifts. Picks inventory to assemble orders of product, supplies and equipment for requisitions or established par levels. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to meet accuracy and production standards. Load, unload and transport products and materials to different areas
of the warehouse and/or other client locations. May require use of carts, powered industrial vehicles (PIV), or motor vehicles. Responsible for conducting routine physical inventory counts based on established location schedules.
Accurately complete administrative duties including records such as inventory count documents, temperature and spoilage logs, equipment inspections, and any other relevant business records. This may be on paper or in a technology-based system (hand-held device or PC). Clean work areas as assigned, including but not limited to restrooms, break areas, loading dock, freight elevator and freight platform delivery areas when applicable. Implement all location
safety policies, OSHA requirements, SDS standards, and emergency procedures.
Use all required safety equipment and personal protective equipment. Takes appropriate measures to ensure the security of client and company assets. Interact with clients, employees, vendors, customers, and guests about business-related activities and attend meetings, as required. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Must be over 18 years of age High school education or equivalent is preferred 2 years of previous warehouse experience is prefered Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills Basic computer skills Manual dexterity required for operating machinery Able to lift up to 50 lb frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 35 lb Some client locations require a current valid driver’s license.
