~ Collaborates with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate care. Provides psychiatric health services, education, counseling, and emotional support. Refers patients for inpatient care, in collaboration with the staff psychiatrist, as necessary. Provides patient education regarding medications, risks, benefits, and reasonable outcome expectations. Responsible for timely and accurate
completion of medical records, including backssment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries. May also provide primary medical care services as indicated, in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocols regulating the profession.
Prepares presentations and or training as needed. Communicates effectively in writing and verbally in English. Collaborates with other staff members, service providers and professionals. MSN or DNP required with a focus on psychiatric nursing required. Previous experience as a psychiatric provider providing direct care to patients receiving treatments for psychiatric disorders required. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) preferred.
Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advance Practice Nurse (APRN-NP) by Texas Board of Nursing required.
Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) required. Required to respond to any medical emergency, fast walk or jog may be necessary to provide assistance. Required to perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling. Must have the ability to assist sick, injured, or aging patients exiting the building during an emergency (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling, or carrying someone who weighs significantly more than self). Frequently required to operate a computer and file and retrieve written documentation.
Pass all pertinent required background checks and child abuse and neglect checks. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
