is an advocate for patient/families and nursing. $5,000 Sign-On Bonus What you will do: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served, in accordance with Mercy One standards. Promotes and maintains a safe and calm environment for complex patients by ensuring appropriate supplies, equipment, and necessary services.
Assists in making clinical decisions based on scientific principles, systematic approach and experience. Assists in identifying actual and potential risk to patients and/or families and assists in initiating appropriate action to minimize risk. Administers medications and treatments/procedures as directed,
and as appropriate for the patient's medical care, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. Communicates with patients, pharmacies and providers on prescription medication refills.
Utilizes internal and community resources in planning care and initiating referrals. Initiates appropriate patient/family education following backssment of learning and discharge needs. Documents nursing intervention and patient/family response accurately, legibly, and in compliance with clinic policies. Appropriately delegates tasks/procedures to other team members who are prepared/qualified to perform. Demonstrates ability to assume leadership role in emergency/crisis situation. Intercepts calls
from patient to physicians. Communicates patient symptoms, problems, etc.
to provider and follow-up with patient on appropriate care. Reviews medical problems of the patient and makes sound and rational patient care decisions. Determines urgency of situation and facilitates appropriate care. Schedules procedures and appointments for patients at outside facilities. Provides appropriate education to patient regarding scheduled procedures. Provides patient demographics to outside facilities, pre-certifies procedures with insurance companies as needed. Distributes incoming reports to providers. Communicates results and reports of tests to patient as directed by provider.
Contributes to the learning experience of students and staff by modeling competent nursing practice. Demonstrates understanding of nursing and its issues and represents the profession to others. Actively participates in clinic meetings, committees, conferences, and in-services. Recognizes and communicates issues/occurrences utilizing established lines of authority and assists in identifying ways to resolve variances or unacceptable outcomes. Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
What we are looking for: Must be a registered nurse maintaining current state licensure. A minimum of one to two years nursing experience preferred. Basic Life Support Certification (BCLS) is required unless doctor's release is provided. Demonstrates the skill level requirement for a Registered Nurse-Triage as evidenced by competent performance and completion of the skills checklist. Is able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team. Maintains a high level of professionalism, which positively promotes the image of Mercy One. Maintains a calm, professional environment.
