The RN in Digestive Health is specially trained to assist with endoscopy procedures involving the gastrointestinal and respiratory system. This position requires the knowledge and skill of nursing theory and practice in order to provide optimal patient care in a cost effective manner. The RN will provide leadership in the department by functioning in a charge
capacity and assuming the responsibilities of such. Explaining procedures/treatment/discharge to patient and family members to alleviate apprehension and to verify understanding of procedure/discharge IV therapy competency including care for central lines Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations Appropriate supervision and delegation of duties to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and other ancillary staff Assures compliance with Joint Commission standards regarding National Patient Safety Goals and other areas of accreditation.
