Sheet Metal Apprentice
structure. Properly install sheet metal accessories. Work safely, follow OSHA standards along with New England Air Systems protocol. Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions. Uses appropriate machinery to complete assigned jobs.
Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs. Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions. Maintains clean and orderly workspace. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16”. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate fractions. Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work. Ability to follow directions. Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
Team player who can also work independently. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Will work with a high school senior who is looking for a co-op experience with their tech school. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. About our apprenticeship program: Our apprenticeship program takes 4 years to complete with a combination of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and classes that will teach you about the basics of the sheet metal trade.
