Part of the Energy Innovation Center, the Industrial Transformation team leverages the latest advancements in sensors, controls, and edge computing to bring innovative solutions to customers across the energy industry.

Partner with the best As a lead research engineer, you are responsible for leading the development of innovative conrol systems solutions and supporting the broader Energy Transition efforts across Baker Hughes. This position will focus on developing a robust process of design,

creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

The candidate will be comfortable in a research environment with uncertainty around future product needs and ambiguous requirements. They will constantly seek clear problem statements, identify potential value propositions, and define requirements for technology development. As a Senior Research Engineer - Industrial Process Controls, you will be responsible for: Identifying ,

developing, evaluating, introducing, and managing engineering solutions for product control and control system technology needs.

Applying control theory and mathematical modeling to design and control systems with desired behaviors. Includes operability, setting of boundaries, cycle optimization, control logic, control related software, sensors, hardware and software algorithms, and feedback to control the performance of devices, subsystems and systems. Collaborating with stakeholders including business leaders, product managers, and engineering/technology leaders to develop strategic technology roadmaps Managing a portfolio of projects that advance digital technologies for Baker Hughes product lines Leading and developing a team of data scientists and engineers Developing visibility as a thought leader by participating in conferences, industry events and fostering shared knowledge through technical publications/presentations.

Maintaining and growing relevant domain knowledge of energy industry activities, particularly with respect to new energy (hydrogen, carbon capture, storage) and industrial asset management (condition monitoring, controls, inspection)Closely watch technology trends and connect with technology partners to identify innovations that can be leveraged Proposing shortest-path solutions and work with a " minimum viable product" mindset to deliver new solutions rapidly Collaborating across the enterprise to share learnings, mentor junior talent, establish best practices in data science, and support a strong internal AI/ML community Performing data analysis and extracting insights out of data using mathematics, statistics, information science, and computer science (including machine learning, statistical learning, and data mining, among others).

Applying existing technologies, approaches, methodologies in new combinations to design new products, systems or processes.

Viewed internally and externally as a specialist in the discipline. Deploying proof-of-concept analytics solutions both in on-prem and public cloud environments for field testing and user feedback, iterating on learnings Fuel your passion To be successful in this role you will have: Master's Degree (PHD preferred) in STEM with emphasis in Industrial Process Controls / Controls Systems10 years of experience with industrial controls Proven experience deploying technologies and scaling them in industrial applications Keen awareness of technology trends and state-of-the-art tools and techniques Proficiency in software development with the ability to understand and develop advanced analytical applications (Experience with Python is preferred)Proven technology program/portfolio management capabilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience communicating with company executives and stakeholders Product experience with various digital solutions, including knowledge of innovative business models, understanding customer experience, gaining voice of customer, and developing product/technology roadmaps Work in a way that works for you We recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.
