P art of the Energy Innovation Center, the Industrial Transformation team leverages the latest advancements in sensors, controls, and edge computing to bring innovative solutions to customers across the energy industry.

Partner with the best As a lead research engineer, you are responsible for leading the development of innovative sensor solutions and supporting the broader Energy Transition efforts across Baker Hughes. This position will focus on developing or leveraging sensor

technology, sensor systems, electronics, and sensor physics to create new products and services for Baker Hughes. The candidate will apply engineering methodologies such as requirements definition, system architecture and integration, analyses, and risk management in the design of sensor technologies.

The candidate will be comfortable in a research environment with uncertainty around future product needs and ambiguous requirements. They will constantly seek clear problem statements, identify potential value propositions, and define requirements for technology development. As a Lead Research Engineer, you will be responsible for: Developing components and systems for sensing industrial

energy equipment and processes Developing small form factor power generation hardware for sensing systems Specifying, sourcing, and implementing commercially available sensor hardware and integrate into control system Leading theoretical research studies of sensor system technology, perform evaluation and comparative analyses, and influence research and development outcomes Working with programmers and analytics developers to create software/firmware code to execute algorithms to process or enhance signals for monitoring, controls, and diagnostics Leading projects working with diverse technical and commercial teams including creating project charter documents, manage project budget and timeline, risks, etc.

Serving as key contributor to multiple projects Developing hardware and software systems that interact with data acquisition systems and intelligent control systems Reviewing hardware and software architecture Preparing and evaluating documentation, specifications, and requirements for prototype designs and lab/field tests Documenting all designs and analysis in drawings and reports Reporting progress and results out to leadership Fuel your passion To be successful in this role you will: Be a Ph D candidate (preferred) or have a Masters (required) in electrical engineering, physics, or other relevant discipline with experience in sensor research and development.

Have a broad understanding of various sensing modalities Have deep understanding of unique sensing needs and state of the art technologies in Energy Transition related including hydrogen, CO2, methane, CCUS, geothermal, and renewable power generation Proven experience developing new sensor technologies Have experience in advanced signal analysis and sensor fusion techniques Have experience in the use of electrical and multiphysics modeling and simulation development tools and processes Demonstrate experience in working on projects with collaborative, cross-functional global teams Demonstrate excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in English Have a good sense of accountability and ownership Posess demonstrated project management skills Be detail oriented and demonstrated ability to develop technical requirements based upon proactive analysis of customer needs Have an effective team mindset and problem-solving abilities with strong interpersonal and leadership skills Have a proven ability to think customer-first and effectively prioritize and pivot as required Work in a way that works for you We recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.
