Procurement & Construction Contractor (EPC) office as main project liaison. 20% -Answer EPC questions, consulting with Arkema team as needed and leading responses. -Make technical decisions at EPC on behalf of Arkema. -Approve design output from EPC, including but not limited to: -PFD and material balance -P&ID -Equipment lists and specifications -Process and safety device calculations including dust protection systems -Participate in design reviews -Own the translation of HAZOP and DHA items into design closure.
-Support development of control strategy. Support process conceptual studies. 20% -Interface with global R&D and process technology leading to piloting and other scale up activities,
process technology development and subsequent process engineering. -Run pilot studies at Arkema’s facility or at vendors. -Conduct basic engineering work and process analysis on complex plant unit operations.
-Study process alternatives and develop preliminary economics analysis. -Utilize process modeling software such as Aspen and interpret data to generate solutions. Prepare process engineering packages. 40% -Prepare PFD’s, P&ID’s, heat and material balances, etc. -Prepare equipment lists, specification sheets, etc. for assigned projects. -Use knowledge of safety regulations and environmental issues, and incorporate them into engineering work. -Team lead PHA and facilitate DHA Reviews.
Lead action closure for HAZOP and DHA. Support plants.
20% -Coordinate process tests with plants and provide oversight. -Develop and lead small capital projects and provides process support to larger capital projects. -Support operations. Give direction to hourly workers and hold accountable for results. -Assist operations as needed during deviations; use analysis skills for troubleshooting, turnaround support, etc. -Will assume the role of team leader or subject matter expert as needed and may establish priorities for employees or teams. Context Will require domestic and occasional international travel (25%). Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc.
(e. g. Behavioral Base Safety, Safe Start, etc. ) Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering is required. Higher degree candidates (MS Ch E) as well as higher experience level candidates will be able to provide higher value in this role. Additional certifications, such as lean six sigma are preferred. More than 10 years industrial or related experience in multiple process engineering/technology roles and/or businesses is required.
Experience in supporting process safety activities at a site is preferred. Demonstrated Competencies Competencies listed below are expected of an individual who is proficient in the role.
