State Board of Education, or, in the alternative, be eligible to obtain them within 2 years of the date of hire and pass the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) or OPIc from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) at the advanced-mid or higher language proficiency rating in English and the Target Language of Instruction (Chinese, French, Portuguese, or Spanish).
[The English OPI (or OPIc) is waived if the candidate received a post-secondary degree in a country where English is the first language.
