The club is a competitive age-group swim club open to University of Iowa members and the general public which offers participation

levels from developmental through Maters swimming. The club is part of a comprehensive aquatics program offered by Recreational Services. The mission of the Iowa Flyers Swim Club is to provide exceptional competitive and recreational opportunities in the sport of swimming to the University of Iowa students, faculty, and staff, as well as to the general community.

IFLY is determined to provide its members a fun, positive, and successful experience through quality coaching and instruction and the use of state-of-the-art facilities. The Iowa Flyers practice in the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) and the University of Iowa Field House. About Recreational Services:

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related coaching experience.

Coaching experience (typically 6mo-1year) with competitive swimmers of multiple age groups and ability levels in a USA Swimming, high school, or collegiate environment. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques and ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. Demonstrated working knowledge and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Work requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends and travel.

Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals. Required Certifications: Must be a current USA Swimming registered coach. Current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches certifications as deemed acceptable by USA Swimming for coaches safety certification are required upon hire. American Red Cross CPR/AED for Lifeguards and Lifeguarding/First Aid certifications or ability to attain within 3 months of hire. American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI) certification or ability to attain within 6 months of hire.

Desirable Qualifications: Advanced coaching experience (2 years or more) with competitive swimmers of multiple age groups and ability levels in a USA Swimming, high school, or collegiate environment. Advanced coaching experience working with USA Swimming Junior National Level swimmers or higher level or equivalent. Competition experience as a swimmer at the USA and/or International Swimming Junior National level or higher, or NCAA (Div. I-III) Conference Championship level or higher. Experience using Team Unify Swimming team management program.

Experience using Hy-Tek Meet Manager software. Experience operating a swimming timing system, i. e. Colorado Daktronics American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 2 or higher certification. Knowledge or experience with structured dry land strength/conditioning programs.
