This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the treatment of patients referred to the Department of Rehabilitation Therapies and to supervise the work of professional and nonprofessional staff and students assigned to their division.

For this specific position, the assigned work area would be adult inpatient physical therapy. The Clinical Supervisor duties are split between 50% direct patient care and 50% management duties. Position Responsibilities: Examine problems and issues within rehabilitation medicine and within the health delivery system, and recommend areas needing consideration within the department.

Plan and carry out staff recruitment, orientation, and development. Evaluate performance and competencies of all assigned staff. Assure that the clinical practice if of high quality and is provided according to established standards.

Investigate and resolve problems encountered by patients, families, and other departmental customers. Coordinate work and services between departments and assist in resolution of intra-departmental and interdepartmental operating problems. Work to achieve optimal efficiency and effectiveness of clinical services within their professional discipline and according to the age and condition of the patient, evaluate and treat conditions of more complex and

specialized patients. Assist in the development and maintenance of sound fiscal policy.

Chair and serve on assigned committees. Assure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Assist in the development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures. Promote multidisciplinary approach to patient care and staff development. backss compliance with accrediting organizations. Plan and assign work for staff within the division. Train therapists in new or revised work methods and procedures. Coordinate clinical education for physical therapy professional students. Participate in planning and conducting departmental and divisional continuing education programs through in service training sessions.

Participates in and facilitates departmental research. Provide long-range planning and establish annual working objective for the division. Establishes and maintains standards of collaborative interaction among peers and employees that is characterized by respect, honesty and service; assures that all unit members are held to similar standards and ethics. Manages the talents, strengths and behaviors of each individual in a diverse work group, while providing each employee with the opportunity to contribute to the goals of the unit.

Experience in a complex multi-disciplinary healthcare environment. Demonstrated leadership abilities. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills. Desirable Qualifications Prior management and research experience. Experience with process and quality improvement Experience participating in intra-and interdepartmental committees.
