Education and Outreach for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Administrative responsibilities of this position require discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and strong data analytic skills. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), established in 1900, is the largest of the 11 colleges that comprise the University of Iowa, with 37 departments spanning the visual, performing, literary, and cinematic arts; humanities; natural and mathematical sciences; social and behavioral sciences; and communication disciplines.
Key Responsibilities: Manage and coordinate complex schedules for Associate Dean for Research and Infrastructure and Associate Dean for Graduate Education
and Outreach and Engagement including confidential meetings requiring discretion and prioritization of appointments. Oversee travel arrangements for Associate Dean for Research and Infrastructure and Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Outreach and Engagement.
TA and Post Doc process management, including execution of communication process out to departments regarding annual TA allocation distribution. Collect faculty development applications, review for leave eligibility and completeness, draft and send award and regrets letters, prepare all data and correspondence required for the Associate Dean for Research, the review committee, and the Provost Office. Analyze, monitor, and
report data needed for all categories of faculty leaves, including leave eligibility and information regarding faculty fellowships or research leaves.
Manage and review website content for the College in general, research opportunities, Graduate Student development, and COGS in alignment with the College's strategic plan to support a better understanding of CLAS's strengths and weaknesses in areas of diversity. Assist with planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing events including New DGS Orientation, Ph D Career Boot Camp, Grant Writing Seminar, Annual Faculty Meeting, and Faculty Honors Celebration in alignment with short- and long-range goals as outlined in the strategic plan for the College For a full job description or questions about this position, please send an email to ion Required: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications: At least 2 years of administrative work experience. Extensive knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office support tools available on the desktop (e. g. calendaring, word processing, e-mail, presentation software, and spreadsheets). Excellent written and verbal skills, as demonstrated at the working proficiency level. Demonstrates working knowledge of and ability to utilize tools, techniques, and processes for gathering and reporting data.
Demonstrates working ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. Demonstrates high attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Desired Qualifications: Ability to work in a collaborative environment. Basic experience with website maintenance. Demonstrates ability to evaluate, analyze, and understand broad-scope systems and structures at both a high and detailed level. Basic knowledge of University policies and procedures.
