What you'll do: The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective environmental, health, and safety (EHS) processes through risk reduction strategies and management system implementation. Manage all aspects of EHS and sustainable development programs Improve EHS workplace performance

by promoting an incident-free workplace, identifying and mitigating EHS risk, and implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies, and ISO standards Determine and direct necessary environmental and safety training for employees and ensure compliance and understanding Guide and direct assigned business units toward compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, and corporate compliance policies Facilitate and engage business unit teams and team members to drive projects that will lead to reductions in accidents, energy, water usage and waste minimization Ensure timely submittal of required federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulatory reports Participate in Safety Committees, Team meeting or meetings as appropriate for the business unit Conduct inspections and audits throughout the entire manufacturing facility to identify existing or potential hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures Assist in incident investigations and practical problem solving Administer initial Workers Compensation functions for the assigned business unit Maintain thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local OSHA regulations, safety codes and environmental quality regulations Create and maintain EHS programs that are compliant with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Facilitate EHS suggestions Conduct JSAs (safety risk backssments) and Aspect / Impact Analysis (environmental risk backssments) Coordinate environmental waste disposal; maintain waste manifest records Manage Medical First Responders Team Maintain and manage Department of Transportation (DOT) / CDL driver files, medical physical cards, and applicable training Participate on the Haz Mat team Other tasks as assigned What you need to be successful: Bachelor's degree in environmental, health and safety or related scientific field CSP, OSHA 10- and 30-hour, DOT/Spill Response/RCRA, Internal Auditor certifications preferred 3-5 years related experience Trained in hazardous material accumulation, recycling, container management, and spill response; attend refresher course annually Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task Innovative team player Intermediate computer skills are required Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Commitment to excellence and high standards Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities Strong: o Communication skills, verbal and written o Interpersonal skills o Organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills Willing to travel when needed Why The Shyft Group?
