Positions and clamps stops and side guides to set length and angle of cut, using rule, built-in gauges, or template. Lifts work piece manually or by hoist or crane. Starts machine which clamps work piece and lowers blade to cut metal.
Lays out cutting lines on metal, using rule, square, or template when shearing single pieces. Tilt bed, blade, or install fixtures to shear, bevel, or trim fabricated or raw material items. Operate portable shear to cut sheet metal, if applicable. Inspect work, using tape, compass, gauge, template, or micrometer to verify dimensions Check and maintain machinery
daily to ensure functionality and safety. Operate a powered industrial vehicle (forklift) to move materials between production areas Maintain a strong, personal commitment to the safety culture.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience operating powered industrial vehicles (forklifts) and handcarts. Ability to continue education for new techniques and programs as they emerge.
Strong understanding of safety procedures. Must be capable of utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
