This section will be focused on analysis of these effects for air and space systems as they work closely with their counterparts in the associated Radiation Effects Analysis & Laboratory (REAL) & Space & Nuclear Effects Simulation (SNES) Sections, driving program performance in this tightly-linked domain. three sections will collaborate and coordinate resources and support, developing a unified vision and executing a global strategy for growth, standardization and meeting program needs.
The Nuclear Weapon Effects (NWE) Section Manager is a " dual-hat" Engineering Manager, responsible for both section management (up to 20% of time) and existing program responsibilities (80% or more of time). Along with reporting into a program, the Section Manager is also a member of the Space Systems Sector Specialty Design & Analysis (SDA) Department. Leadership skills are required to manage and counsel team members and interns. The Section Manager shall be the functional leadership contact for the SDA Department and will support and implement activities supporting Radiation & Survivability Engineering initiatives, reporting directly to the SDA Department Manager.
The NWE manager should have experience in analyzing electronic component degradation under radiation environments and understand strategic threat environments. Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Associate Communications Payload Systems Engineer to work in Redondo Beach, California. The Associate Communications Payload Systems Engineer will be expected to have a command on core communications
systems engineering concepts from their electrical engineering degree to perform analysis, devise requirements for communications systems and the units that comprise it and verify requirements by analyzing test data for applicable metrics.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Perform architecture trades, design analysis, and performance modeling. Provide systems engineering technical support for hardware development efforts. Perform trade studies, specification development, requirements definition and allocation to the unit and sub-unit levels. Perform Internal Design Review planning, development, and presentations. Perform unit verification planning.
Essential experience in one or more of the following areas (with concepts provided as examples): Communication systems: Signal amplification, analysis via frequency domain, etc. RF and digital hardware design: VSWR, Gain, Noise Figure, etc. Signal detection and estimation: BPSK, QAM, Nearest Neighbor, etc. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline Practical working experience with system architecture design, trade studies, and performance analysis and simulation at school and/or on a job. Technical experience with supporting hardware development utilizing antenna, RF, digital, and microelectronic technologies at school and/or on a job.
Ability to obtain and maintain Do D Top Secret or SCI Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates have completed relevant coursework in Communication Theory and Digital Signal Processing Experience with baseband and digital signal processing, and waveform design Possesses strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with developing requirements and testing requirements using core systems engineering principles.
Currently hold active DOD Top Secret/SSBI and/or SCI Security Clearance. Salary Range: $70,200 - $105,400 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
