Scheduled hours are anywhere in between 4am to 3:30pm. This position includes a every third weekend obligation. Job Summary Responsibilities include phlebotomy, collecting, preparing and processing specimens biological specimens. Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks.
Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results. Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.
Qualifications High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required. Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Job Requirements Requirements and Preferred Skills/Abilities: The successful candidate will join WEST as a full-time regular Consulting Biologist, depending on experience and skillset, and will be a motivated self-starter who possesses: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in biological studies, natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology, or equivalent. As well as previous professional experience in environmental consulting the following are desired: Conducting wetland delineations, wildlife and/or botanical surveys (although field surveys are not expected to be a large component of this position).
A strong understanding of wildlife ecology, native or sustainable vegetation management, or other areas of ecology potentially of interest to clients. Familiarity with a broad suite of environmental regulatory compliance processes (Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, state routing and permitting processes for proposed wind and transmission line projects in the Upper Great Plains). Previous project management experience (5+ years), including budgeting and proposal writing experience, consulting work, and professional scientific experience.
Track record of maintaining positive relationships with coworkers, clients, and project stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills: Close attention to detail. Experience with conveying information in both scientific/technical formats and for the general public. Good time management, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to work well under time constraintsand meet deliverable targets and deadlines. Ability to follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive feedback from colleagues and supervisors.
