They develop and refine plans for the grounds to include ornamental plants, ground cover, landscaping and associated structures such as walkways, pergolas and lighting. They develop budgets, estimate costs, negotiate contracts and ensure the overall scheme for the landscape.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Have advanced knowledge of trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers on property to maintain landscaping at the highest standard. Recruit, lead, train, coach, motivate and discipline team members in performance of their assignments Develops departmental budget
and administers same using sound business practices Identifies and makes work assignments for team members Participates in continuing education programs to be knowledgeable on new products or procedures, equipment Acquires and maintains necessary certifications for soil science, weed management or ornamental design Use all safety precautions in the daily performance of their duties Works closely with other departments to insure grounds are prepared for special events Plant, weed, fertilize, mulch and water bedding areas Trim trees and plants Supports the Landscape team members to ensure that all work is completed to standards Perform all other duties as directed DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school grad or equivalent GED required Bachelor's degree in horticulture or related field of study required Landscape Certifications preferred may include: OTPS, OTPC, CLM or other similar certifications Skills and Abilities: Ability to read and follow specific directions Ability to communicate with team members verbally and in writing Ability to coach, counsel and teach team members Ability to operate motorized and manual landscape equipment Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather for a full shift Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs.
