YOUR LIFE AS A LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN This full-time animal care position works either four days a week, from 6:45 am - 6 pm, OR three days a week, from 6:45 am - 6 pm and a half day, from 11:45 am - 6 pm or 6:45 am - 2 pm. There is no work on Saturdays! In this vet tech position, you are vital to our practice. Each day, you arrive at work eager to render loving animal care.
When patients arrive, you use your excellent customer service skills to greet them and help them feel at ease in our stress-free environment. Next, you obtain patient histories and prepare each animal for a veterinary exam. Using your training and expertise as a vet tech, you follow up with whatever procedures the vet requests, such as collecting specimens, performing IV catheterization, doing phlebotomy work, and administering a variety of medications. As part of your duties, you take radiographs to correctly diagnose a problem. You also help in surgery by prepping the patient, monitoring the anesthetic, and serving as a surgical and dentistry assistant.
