They must be a dependable, compassionate, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and a strong team spirit. They must apply good human relation skills, good animal handling skills, and possess good communication. The Veterinary Technician Supervisor must also apply leadership, encourage responsibility, and maintain a professional demeanor with staff. Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise technicians and other medical personnel in assigned departments, evaluating performance and conducting timely reviews Support and enforce hospital policies and procedures Schedule staff according to departmental needs, monitor work efficiency and minimize overtime and lunch penalties Train new staff in their responsibilities; mentor all staff regarding performance and training needs Oversee cleaning, stocking, and inventory management for the department Exhibit confidentiality and professionalism in all regards for any client or employee issues; be proactive in approach to issue resolution Assist in determining animal requirements by helping conduct animal examinations, restraining
patients, and reviewing care plans and records Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering vaccines, providing wound care management, completing laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging Prep and assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures Fill prescriptions and administer PO, SQ, IM, IV medications, including proper documentation, logging and security of controlled drugs Operate and maintain hospital equipment, i.
e. EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, and anesthetic monitors and machines Anesthetize animals and monitor anesthesia under the direction and supervision of the Veterinarian Participate in all staff and technician/assistant mandatory meetings Understand and limit the potential exposure to bites, scratches, and potential injuries Maintain a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, and/or pain Qualifications and Skills: At least 1 year of veterinary experience Experience having a previous leadership/supervisor role in the veterinary field is a plus LVT, CVT, or RVT certification is preferred but not required Confident with anesthesia monitoring and pre & post op care Knowledge of medical drugs and calculations Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors Available Schedule: Schedule will be M-F, hours to be determined Peavine is open: M-F from 7:30am-5:30pm Closed Saturdays & Sundays Benefits We Offer: Competitive compensation commensurate with experience ($21.00 - $28.00 per hour) Health, dental, and vision insurance 401k + company match Paid time off Continuing education opportunities Professional development support Mental health assistance Employee discounts on veterinary services Scrub allowance Empathetic and compassionate work environment!
