Two surgical suites with Ligature, minimally invasive surgical tower, and C-arm.
Separate ICU for post-op recovery and critical care cases. Our amazing technicians are thoroughly trained in anesthesia, ultrasound, CT, X-rays, medical record writing and history taking. We have a mentorship program in place for newer graduates, CE funding, and full benefits. All Veterinarians are paid on production, with average salary for all DVMs of at

timeliness and conformance to established standards; major work tasks are covered by instructions or procedures and unusual situations are referred to a supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Obtains and records animal and livestock case history on the Tohono O'odham Nation.
Educates the Tohono O'odham community on the importance of spaying and neutering in order to control the animal population. Collects specimens and performs laboratory procedures. Prepares animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery. Maintains records of work performed. Assists in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures on large and small animals. Provides emergency and weekend on-call veterinary
coverage. May travel to communities to assist with aid to animals. Keeps facilities, equipment and property clean and sterile. Assists law enforcement, when call upon; assists with animal removal and may quarantine dog bite suspects.
Performs other job related duties as assigned and contributes to a team effort. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and veterinary practice management software. Knowledge in livestock management. Knowledge of current veterinary theory and practice. Knowledge of animal surgical techniques.
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures. Skill in the restraint of small and large animals.
Skill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership. Ability to backss and treat medical conditions in a wide variety of animals. Ability to observe, backss and record symptoms, reactions and progress. Ability to maintain quality, safety and or infection control standards. Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing in formation and/or technology. Ability to work extended hours and weekends in emergencies, or when required (i.
e. meetings, workshops, etc. ). Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to travel within the interior/exterior boundaries of the Tohono O'odham Nation. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to maintain privileged confidential information. Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines. Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Veterinary Science, and three years' work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, or an equivalent combination of training, education and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements: Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background check is required to determine suitability for hire, including a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record. May require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years). If required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles.
Based on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English as a condition of employment.
