as necessary. Maintain open and clear communications with members of patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
Provide client education including, but not limited to home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions), and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients. Assist DVM with patient backssment, treatment, and procedures. Acquire vitals on appointments. Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients. Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedated procedures as necessary. Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
Documentation of all aspects of treatment. Maintain sanitary conditions of hospital, clean and efficient working area Essential Skills and Qualifications: Technical skills including but not limited to IV catheter placement, learning and performing advanced skills, venipuncture, and safe restraint. Able to maintain focus and work in a fast-paced work environment. Adept at problem solving. Basic computer skills Effective communication and organizational skills CVT, RVT, LVT Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program. Registered in the state of Ohio One year working experience in the veterinary medicine industry preferred.
Special Working Conditions: Fast-paced, high patient load, 24-hour, 7-day/week, 365-day/year veterinary medical facility. This position may require special hours, including working weekends and evenings. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 40 pounds unassisted. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances. Anticipated Schedule: 8am -6pm Tuesday - Friday.
